Mahendra Singh Shekhawat holds an academic position with the University’s School of Manufacturing Skills. After earning a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, he started with his career as a Fabrication Engineer in CIMMCO, Bharatpur in Rajasthan. After a stint of nearly 25 years in industry, he decided to make a new way into academics. He took a break in his industrial career while at HMT Machine Tools Limited Ajmer, Rajasthan as the Deputy General Manager (Design and Development). Mahendra began his academic journey with his wealth of industry experience as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at few technical institutions in Jaipur including the Manipal University. He is one of the very few faculty members who brings a blend of industry and academic experience which is highly valued in the skilled education sectors.
His specialization mainly lies in the realm of machine tools and manufacturing processes for grinding operations. Over the past 4 years his research has focused on the design and development of hybrid centreless abrasive machining processes and its performance evaluation. He is interested to nucleate a small group for research in advance machining processes to solve complex problems in the machining of thin-walled cylindrical components made from difficult-to-machine materials for their use in aerospace, automotive, heat transfer and other general engineering applications.
